This always happens when I've bought cheap and cheerfull, never when I've splashed out on something  . Mind you I only ever tell someone the price if it was a bargain. Let myself down there.
For everyday wear I tend to buy cheaper high street stuff from the sales (Next, topshop, oasis). Supermarket stuff is ok for one season but that's all. I have quite a few items from places like Jigsaw, mexx, monsoon that have washed fab and wear season after season, I don't seem to wear cheaper stuff that long. I will probably only buy more expensive stuff in the sales unless is for something specific. Things like coats and shoes I would rather pay more for and get more wear out of them but I'd still get them in the sales from higher end high street, never "designer" though (total rip off)
Sian100 - have you tried Next for their tall range? I'm 5ft 11 and find their extra long is too long. They do a Long length which is just fine for me. A few years ago it was near impossible to get long enough trousers, so I don't mind paying a little bit more.0 -
Hi Jenny,
We have a similar thread about buying clothes so I have merged yours with it as it helps to keep all the suggestions together. Posts are listed in date order so you'll need to read from the beginning to see all the replies.

I'm 5'11" as well, thanks! I didn't know Next did extra long, just long. I need 35-36in inseam, so it may just about be long enough. Sometimes I'll take down the hems on the 34in length trousers for a bit of extra length, and it does the job.
I know what you mean about there being nothing a few years ago- I'm only in my mid-20s now, but I stopped growing at 13, and there was nothing around then, only LTS which is a bit variable with quality and not good value IMO. I spent a good few years wearing trousers which were too short. I am actually just really glad that I can buy things which are long enough now, even if I do have to pay a bit more, as you say, as opposed to there being nothing!
Anyway, this is really off-topic, sorry for the hijack. Thanks for your advice, Girl Least Likely To. :beer:0 -
Sian100 - Try Oasis for long trousers, I've found some really nice ones there but it depends on the fit, can be a bit hit and miss, worth a try though. Topshop have quite a good Tall range and their moto jeans go as long as 36 inches. I think they're about £35 and fit really well. Quite cheap compared to "designer" demin. I've had a couple of pairs that I've worn virtually non stop for about 4 years (although take about 9 months off for pregnancy and jelly belly removal!).0

Thanks again, Girl Least Likely To. Didn't know about Oasis- I'll keep them in mind. I knew Topshop, DP, LTS, Miss Selfridge (sometimes) and Zara all did 35 or 36in inside leg. I emailed M&S a year ago, and they said they were introducing extra long length, but I haven't seen any as of yet. I wish my relatives would stop getting me M&S gift vouchers, bless them.
Anyway, I apologise for the hijack once again! Thanks, Girl Least Likely To.
I wish I could go into Primark and buy a £6 pair of jeans! Never mind. Everyone has frustrating times when they go shopping for different reasons I'm sure anyway.0 -
I haven't read the whole thread so apologies if someone has already mentioned this, but I've just discovered the joys of TK Maxx. I recently lost 2.5 stone and went down 3 dress sizes so a complete replacement of my wardrobe was required. I was able to buy a very comprehensive wardrobe of good quality (and in some cases very good designer makes eg Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfilger) clothes for much less than I would have spent in a high street store, even a middle brow one like Next or Gap.0

I seem to have the opposite end of most peoples problems....
I'm a short !!!!!!!
I'd say I'm about 5ft1/2in, but I'm generally petite all over, and find that petite trousers esp' DP all have saddlebags when I try them on.
Like someone said we all have our frustrations when we shop. I also resent paying for trousers that I then have to have taken up, I've tried myself and it was a disaster! Plus the overall fit just isnt good even when its 'normal' height stuff!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Per Una at M&S are excellent for long legged people. Im 5 foot 10 and they fit great!

I know what you mean- the waist's in the wrong place and, well, everything is in the wrong place! I sympathise. :beer:Penny-Pincher!! wrote:Per Una at M&S are excellent for long legged people. Im 5 foot 10 and they fit great!
Thanks for the suggestion, PP. M&S were always far too short for me in the past, but they did say that they're supposedly introducing extra long length, and I may have to give them another try now that you've recommended them. I'll give them another chance. Thank you for the information. :T
It's difficult enough to stick to a clothing budget without having figure and height woes when shopping, right ladies and gents? Never mind.0 -
i was just going to do my paperwork tomorrow afternoon - now i feel the urge to clear my wardrobe - usually do it every 3 months or so - so must be time :-(0
