Not started paying off student loan
Hi I started my job in september 2007 after finishing uni a few months earlier. I've always been earning above the threshold amount to start making repayments on my student loan but I've noticed that so far I haven't made a single repayment. I believe that although this is no fault of my own it's my responsibility to chase it up? Why would this come about?
I'm particularly worried about having to make all the repayments I've missed in the last 12 months in one go. Is this a possibility and how should I go about chasing it up? I know of other people in the same situation that have decided not to say anything but I don't want to be hit with a huge repayment or be repaying until over 65 as I doubt I will ever pay it off.
Thanks

I have the same problem. Recently the Student Loans Company sent me forms to fill in with a letter along the lines of 'if we find you have been working abroad etc etc'.
Through no fault of my own no payments have been taken from my wage, depsite always keeping them up to date with my contact details.
I filled in the forms with my employers PAYE details etc on about a month and half ago, and still not heard anything. I thought me doing that would start the ball rolling and they would start taking some payments.
I dont think they can take anything in a lump sum, but if you are worried maybe put aside some money each month until you sort it out. Have you called them?Is a sufferer of SAD, so don't blame me, blame the depressing English weather!!!:beer:0
