Hi
We are thinking of getting an 8 ft pool for the summer and arent sure which is the best buy.
There is also the issue of pumps and filters which do increase the price...we have no experience of using these and were wondering if anyone can give us any advice.
Thanks very much

I thought they generally came with a filter pump. You'll also need chemicals for it (eg chlorine) and some sort of cover.
Trouble is it will never get get very warm, so you might want to buy a heater. These are 3kw (the same as a kettle) so running one of these for hours can get expensive.
Try cybercheckout for pool accessories.....0 -
I have an Intex framed pool and it is great and easy to put up. I think they are a bit stronger than the Bestway.I woulld also recommend using the chlorine tabs that go into a little mushroom shaped thing, otherwise the water will be green in no time, especially if you have children who might pee in the pool! I do have a filter but I find that the kids moving around stirs it all up and so I just use the net to get it all out. The ones with the blow up ring around the top are quite good but the I found the kids hung off it and burst it.0

Thanks for the advice.
I will look at the intex ones.
Linni - Do you think that i need a filter? ..or would the chlorine tablets and regular netting be ok.
We are novices when it comes to water cleanliness and dont want to have to change the water.0 -
You need some chemicals, I think you can get 'salt' tablets that are an alternative to chlorine (less red eyes). Intex ones normally come with a filter, I would say that you do need one, but don't need to run it as often as is suggested......0

Although I have a filter, I rarely use it and as yours is only 8' I wouldn't worry too much about it. It depends on how much you will use the pool. If it is used regularly all through the summer and the water doesn't stagnate you should be ok just with the net. The chemicals are important though as otherwise you will get allsorts in it. When I got my first pool I didn't use enough chlorine in it and had little bugs floating around in it. I had to empty all the water out because I didn't feel like sharing! I have bought other chemicals but I don't even use them any more. The Chlorine tablets are quite good and I just keep the 'mushroom' thing filled up. Have a look at Madpools.co.uk. as there is lots of information on their site and sometimes have good offers. Mine arrived in two days.0

Thanks very much!
So...if i net it regularly and use the "mushroom thing" you suggest with chlorine or salt tablets it should be fine.
I feel a purchase coming on!0 -
It is well worth it, we put ours up yesterday and the kids have been in it all day, even though the water is freezing. I usually get lots of lilo's and the blow-up chairs are good too as you can sit on them and just float around - lovely! Good luck with pool-hunting.0
