Does Anyone have a Jack Lalanne Juicer, please?

I have just bought the above, (the un-named one at a third of the price) and wonder if anyone has any suggestions to avoid the mess made inside the juicer, it took me ten times longer to clean it then to drink the juice!

  • One tip I have is to put a plastic bag in the bit that collects the pulp (like you would line a bin) - it stops you having to clean that bit!

But I agree, the rest is a bit of a nightmare!

I dont have this one but for mine like jainefulton has said I put a plastic bag in the pulp collection bit and use warm water bit of washing up liquid and a tooth brush to clean the grater thing. Only takes about two min

  • I really don't understand juicers.

Take the juice out drink it, then find a way of eating the rest and then clean the juicer and pay for the electricity - why not just eat the fruit?

I have had one of these for 2 years. As long as you clean it out as soon as you have finished, it doesn't seem to be a problem. I did invest in a dishwasher brush for the grater, but run it under a tap as you clean it and it only takes a few seconds.

To be honest I have never had a problem with the pulp collector, but the bag seems a good idea.
  • I bought one of these from QVC but sent it back just before the 30 day return deadline as it was a nightmare to clean and seemed to take up so much space on the worktop. I then bought this little manual juicer off QVC for £10 - it is a silver cup with a screw top and it is fantastic for juicing - I do everything from oranges to grapes in seconds and for the amount of times I actually make juice it is great. I also find that juice from electric juicers always has this foamy stuff on top of it which I don't like.

I have one of these Jack La Lannes and I'm not sure I like it anymore!
It's easy enough to clean but still enough of a pain to make me think twice before making juice and I haven't used it for a couple of months now.

I got it because I love carrot juice and the juice bar across the road at work is so expensive but I don't really use the juicer enough to justify the expense and the space it takes up. I'm considering ebaying it as I'm too lazy for it really. Though the carrot pulp is good for carrot cakes so I don't know! Maybe I will appreciate it more in the summer...

Thanks to everyone for their replies.

I did put a bag in the pulp collector, but the underside of the main part near where the fruit etc is put in was so thick I had to spoon everything out, I will have to persevere, won't I?
