Hi there
Definitely worth it! It's easy to follow and I've lost over 2 stone. If you get the monthly pass you can go to classes and use online resources.
Good Luck with it

Yes, it is called the Discover Plan. You are allowed a certain number of points each day, and all food and drink has a points value. You can choose what to have each day within your points - and you can earn extra points through exercise.0

cant comment on the latest WW one but losing weight I totally can advocate.
Last year I lost 7 1/2 stone with sureslim and its made a very huge difference to how I feel.
Ive got a friend doing WW at the moment and its working well for her. Personally I needed something a bit stricter to keep me from cheating but everyone is different.Eleventh Heaven no 710 - we can all dream0 -

Pay money to weight watchers (or others) to do a simplified version of calorie counting with points instead of knowing real calories.
I'm sure it's not neccessary for everyone.
Mid-February 2009 I weighed a slightly overweight 12st 13lbs, today it's 11st 10lbs (and dropping) and I have spent less money than I would have done otherwise as I spend less money on food. It's easier than I expected to do, no special foods or anything like that and you really can eat anything you want so long as it fits inside your daily or at least weekly calorie budget.
The trick is to put your calorie input only a little lower, like 400 calories below an estimate of what you burn each day and then be patient while the weight drops off at a rate of 1 to 2lbs a week. Don't drop all 400 calories one day to the next, cut out 100 every 2 days until you get to the right level to get used to it. It's not unusual for your body to hang on to the weight for about 3 weeks before it has no option but to start burning the fat loosing weight... unless your building heavier muscle due to increased excercise which is good but means longer to see the weight going down.
Pick the right foods and you don't go hungry, pick high calorie foods that don't fill you up and it's going to be impossible. Don't go on a binge in the middle because it's all about conditioning firstly your mind and secondly your body and stomach to the level of calorie intake that is right. That means not too low (you will not be able to keep it up) as well as not too high.
Don't let the process be a miserable experience, treat yourself to that pint of beer (182 calories, nearly half a roast dinner) or glass of wine (150 calories) or whatever cream cake/chocolate you like a couple of times a week.
It's been posted on MSE before, but http://caloriecount.about.com is extremely helpful for getting advice on what calorie intake you need to acheive your weight loss target and figuring out calories in food that don't say it on the labels. You can keep a food and excercise diary (I did to start with but can keep track of calories in my head now), enter starting and target weights, your weights as time goes by and see a graph of how you are doing. There is also an online community for support and encouragement. It's free to join.
I despair when I hear of friends and family on temporary expensive diets with special foods that they find hard to stick to. "A diet" that works long term is a permanent change to calorie intake vs. calorie use and getting them to roughly match once you have got down to your target weight.... but then most people already know that, just need some extra help to measure what's going on.
Were you skinny at the age of 21?
Apparently at this age the number of fat cells in your body becomes fixed, if your skinny at this age it's a lot easier to get your weight down.
This is how I see it for anyone not suffering from a medical condition that causes their excess weight.0 -
I think many of us need to pay out to keep us in tow. We all know that we just need to cut down but OMG it just doesnt happen.
why we cant just eat enough to keep us healthy and no more I will never know - just so unfair isnt it.
btw yes sureslim is strict but it works and its real food so its not too hard to follow.Eleventh Heaven no 710 - we can all dream0 -
Im following weight watchers and really enjoying it, the purpose of 'discover' plan is to discover your eating habits and see if you can stay satified and not go up and down, ie hungry, full, starving etc.
Food are in green in the booklet, meaning they keep you fuller for longer. You have your point allowance that you must stick to, so yes you can eat whatever you like, if you want a piece of cake and its like 7 points, you have to decide if it worth using 7 points on a piece of cake or using it on more filling foods.
I had a piece of rocky road cake once, such a tiny slice and it was 8 pts, i pointed it up after i ate it (stupid idea) and it was soooo not worth it for 8 pts. But thats the beauty of it, you discover things like this and thus make changes.
I do monthly pass, its easier, its £17.95 and is for members who attend weekly meetings. So you go along, your leader weighs you and you stay for the meeting, though you don't have to if you don't want. You just sign a sheet and put down your monthly pass info (but you must take it with you so they see it, otherwise you'll pay the £5.50 charge) But then you also get access to the website stuff, so weight tracker, measurement tracker, menu ideas, points planner, meaning you can type in what you've eaten or search for brands to find its points value.
If you don't do monthly pass, you pay £5.50 every week you go to be weighed and all you get for that is your leading weighing you and staying for the meeting, nothing else.
So yea, i know thats a long reply, but hope it helps. Myself i've lost nearly 2 stone so far, i've had my bad weeks, but its a lifestyle change and im not gonna be perfect every week.
If you want to contact me on a personal note, i could use my info to tell you what your point allowance would be eat day and what you'd be able to eat in a day, that might help you to judge whether you think its worth joining or not.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160
