I lost my Dad four and a half years ago very suddenly when I was just 20. But for his last Fathers' Day (we didn't know it at the time) I wrote him a poem, which nearly brought him to tears.
Just put into words exactly what your dad means to you.Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
I was intending on making this photocube... http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2009/mar/16/homemade-mothers-day-presents-photo-cube but chickened out cos I thought I'd muck it up and bought this instead... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Present-Time-Photo-Frame-Large/dp/B001CIXZRO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1242838861&sr=8-1. I'm making the same present for OH, my dad and FIL so got free delivery as spend was over a fiver.
I love the idea of a poem.
How about finding facts about something your dad likes (such as football, food...) and putting them in a jar for him to read one per day? If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
a health check up ~ gifts that give twice. I always find they are extremely well received, cost very little and also the receiver doesn't know how much they cost.

rainmac - love the idea of the photocube. Might get couple of those for christmas for my two sons and put piccys of their dad in it (they were both very young when he died and the oldest was 5 and does have some memories. Be a lovely keepsake for them)Mary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

I've just purchased a t-shirt from Ethel Austin's for my DD's dad .... part of a hamper for fathers day. It says 'This is what a fab dad looks like' .... they are grey in colour, and only £3, but everything in store has 20% off.A creative mess is better than tidy idleness0

Thought of a few more ideas...
How about a journal jar... http://organizedchristmas.com/adult-journal-jar
Framed photo of you and your dad (or photo of your dad's favourite place)
Coupons to print and make into a booklet... http://familycrafts.about.com/od/fathersdaycrafts/ig/Printable-Father-s-Day-Coupons/
Bake a cake or biscuits or invite him round for lunch/dinner.
Few ideas here... http://www.mycraftbook.com/List.asp?subcategoryID=63:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
On mothers day I made my MIL a photobook with old photos in. If you search the internet there are lots of different companies and quite often there are special offers.0
