replace a broken Dyson

Our Dyson DC01 appears to have finally given up on us and we are looking to replace it. My initial thoughts were to buy another Dyson. I find the large range of Dysons rather confusing, and their certainly not cheap, and so wondered if anyone had any suggestions for vacuums that give Dyson type performance at a lower price.

Meile built to last. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Have you contacted Dyson direct - they will come out to look at the vacuum cleaner and repair it for about £55...

Js_Other_Half - absolutely spot on. My Dyson gave up the ghost a couple of years ago and for £50, a Dyson engineer came over and practically re-built it with new parts. Worth doing if you like your particular model.0

Yes go for the repair but if you do want a new machine I endorse the Meile and not just for their cleaners. :j0

Dysons seem to be modular in construction and most bits are available to buy online, a point I wish I had known when ours lost suction and the better half went out and bought a new one, I then found out our old one only needed a new hose which was only about £20.0

I've got a DC07 that needed a few new bits and I got them all very cheaply (cheaper than Dyson costs) off of eBay. Noticed a lot of DC01 stuff on there as well.0

Make sure you change the filters if its overheated or it will do it again, DC01's are prone to this!He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0
