Unfortunately, your post just stinks of sour grapes.
What is your professional interest?0 -
Pal wrote:BTW - From this site's point of view the fact that some posters might get some business from this site is not a problem. As long as they pay their dues here by helping out other site visitors then there it's ok. The forums are full of professional advisers, particularly the mortgage board.
Of course this board does not recommend the services of any professional advisers just because they post here a lot! At your own risk and all that.
Blatant adverts are obviously deleted and the people posting them banned.
Exactly what I said previously. Why do you feel you have to justify yourself and "stick in the knife" on the "twins"?
Your motives look highly questionable from this perspective I have to say. I can't see that the "twins" earn anything from their opinions, unlike potentially the IFA's.
Time to come clean Pal?0 -

If anyone wants a laugh, go to the advanced search.
Put ReportInvestor in the poster box.
Refine the search to "posts"
Search first for Sipps
Then HYP*
And see what you come up with :rotfl:0 -
RI - Believe it or not I do read your posts, and I apologise if my reference to the posting habits of the "twins" was unjustified, given that it is only one of you that demonstrates the bias I described.
You are twins though, right?
Edna - No sour grapes here. I like the fact that the twins are around. Ed's lack of a balanced viewpoint and willingness to reach conclusions based on very little evidence is annoying at times, but she does (occasionally) make some very good points and she helps a lot of people out.
I also have no professional interest to promote here. I am not an IFA, and you will note I am one of the few with no website links in my profile. Neither do I post links to articles published on my own website.
Of course, if people want to avoid accusations of promoting their website, perhaps they should edit their profile to remove the link, and stop posting links to articles on their sites....0 -
MSE made us "twins" I suppose, by baptising me with this ridiculous name, which was designed (not by me) to alert readers indirectly to my other web existence.0
-
I didn't know that. Presumably your real name is "Report"?
Odd parents eh?0 -

I post links to the IA website occasionally when we have something specially relevant to an MSE thread, but not nearly as often as I post links to press reports or websites with info about investment strategies or products.
This is all for information, not promotion purposes.Trying to keep it simple...0 -
And the aim of the website is presumably to promote the IA?
And you only have your website link in your profile for information only?
Blurred lines?
To be honest I don't care one way or the other, but if people are going to start accusing one group of posters of profiting from their time spent here then we might as well all be open and honest, yes?0 -

"Profit"? You seem to be having a go at a voluntary lobby group that try to help financial consumers for no profit or payment at all in their spare time - hardly "promoting" is it?
I won't speculate on what the motivation might be to do that - let's be generous and say it's your blurred thinking rather than a case of blurred lines.
In contrast I've yet to find a group of IFAs who provide their services totally free out of community spirit or whatever - should you ever bump into any, please do let me know?:D
You're comparing apples and pears methinks...0 -

So I assume my cheque must have been lost in the post!0
