Memory topper for arthritis lower back?

Hi,
I have been diagnosed with arthritis in my lower back (and elsewhere but this bothers me the most from the point of view of a bed!)...
The mattress we have is high quality, although I bought about 10 years ago, which seems to be fine still. My partner is still comfortable on it, so I think the change has been my arthritis. We don't want to buy a new one, because we plan to move int he next year (if the housing market will allow) and we would like to get a king size once we have more space...:j
I have been looking at mattress toppers, in particular memory foam, and feel a little bit lost as to what would be the right one!
I have been looking mainly at sites that allow user reviews, and the argos ones and the amazon ones that are the deep ones have some good reviews but it's so hard to tell...I have looked up advice on here and elsehwere but still feel confused, and I don't want to waste my money...
The main choices (in my mind) are, but willing to be enlightened!:
John Lewis £129 2" memory foam mattress density 55kg/m3
http://www.johnlewis.com/6122/Product.aspx
Amazon a) £64.99 ex roseby stock 3" density 75kg/m3
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Double-Memory-Mattress-Treated-Rosebys/dp/B001JB2L6U/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1242817048&sr=8-6
b) £64.91 3" Visco brand no listed density but I called and they said medium, when I asked for more info they said "about 65"
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Memory-Foam-Mattress-Topper-Inch/dp/B00161Z02A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1242820330&sr=8-1
Or argos:
£124.99 3" density unknown
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/1271429/Trail/searchtext%3EMATTRESS+TOPPER+DOUBLE.htm
I would appreciate any advice or links to items that have been "tried and tested"!
Thank you,
Leah

If you don't want to be too hot, then try and stick to 2" rather than 3". You have to remember that the existing quilting in the mattress will also insulate the memory foam.
If possible try to keep the density between 60 and 70kg per m3.0 -
Aaaah that means that none of the choices I included will be suitable. Thanks for the advice I will keep looking...

Hi Tim,
To be honest I didn't even look at Ebay, because I didn't want to buy such a big thing from somewhere that did not offer easy returns - which in my experience Ebay sellers often don't...
However I have just made a purchase:
http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/app.detail/walk.yah.UKHG~U077
The density is not listed, but QVC offer a 30 day money back guarantee even if I have opened it, so feel this is a try before you buy opportunity, also the price has now dropped to £78 so not quite so much money...I also liked the fact it wasn't a solid block - wondered if that might make it less hot...
Thank you for your help (which I have sort of ignored - sorry!)...
I will let you know how it turns out!!

The textured finish is just a gimmick, as it will be completely squashed when you lay on it.0 -
