Cleaning used tinfoil containers

How do you wash/clean tin foil containers?

Can you do them in the dishwasher?

Is it safe to keep re-using the plastic dishes that you get ready meals in?
The curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile

Personally I would only use the trays from ready meals for plants or something. The plastic dishes with lids that come from takeaways are better IMHO. Tin foil containers , hmmmm, I've never reused those, I just put them in our recycling box. I wouldn't recommend putting them in the dishwasher either, but perhaps someone else knows different??
  • I wouldn't re-use them for food, not sure you would be able to get them clean enough, lots of grooves around the lip of foil containers, would be a haven for nasties.

I have reused foil containers after putting them in the dishwasher - they sometimes come up a bit discoloured, but at least they're clean!
As for plastic trays from ready meals, I put those through the dishwasher and either use them as disposable cat feeding bowls, or put them in the recycling bin.
  • I use the plastic ones for the cat and Ive washed the tinfoil ones carefully. Only used them once, then they go for the cat. If you want some good containers which are reusable and designed specifically for the purpose, try the Baco ones, or shops own brand similar ones. Asda do their own but I found the baco ones the best. They work out about 45p each but you can use them time after time without worry and they come with lids.

  • I have reused both platic and tin foil containers for anything and everything until they have been unusable. Fridge, freezer, reheats even decorating.

Soak the tin foil for a few hours in a warm water and stardrops and handwash the plastic ones.

The plastic and foil ones from take aways ones are ideal for picnic's/days out if you keep hold of the lids , reuse and then safely dispose of and you don't have to carry something else round till you get home.

    Netty.
