Another week with no credit cards

Hi All
Another week with no credit. A few ups and downs this week. Im still getting aggro from my creditors. One had even used a mandate from 1997 to setup and take £400+ from my current account. My bank refunded it though.
Had an interview. Got another Wednesday and another Thursday so things looking up on the financial front
Had to buy a few cards thsi week and for the first time in years I had to look at the price rather then the message. Card I wanted for mum was £3.75 I ended up spending 78p on it.. Thats the way things are now.
Also went Costco and got loads of deodrants and soap and toothpaste at prices cheaper then asda. As its a cash only enviroment i couldnt get into debt. Reckon that although I spent £45 , in wilkos and asda would have spent double that
SO things are kicking in . I dont spend what I havent got. When I went grocery shopping I even went , got food and left.Normally i would spend 20 mins or so looking at cds and dvds and magazines etc.. But went past them withouth thinking

i know what you mean about the cards! i don't think i ever used to look at the prices, went to buy one recently for soon-to-be BIL..... £4!!! so i now buy cards in poundstretcher/instore and write my own message.
Well done not using credit, i haven't used any for about 6 weeks i think, gave my mum my credit cards. makes a huge difference having to look at the price of things eg. i never knew cereal was so expensive. (can you tell i never used to look at the price of anything  )
Anyway, good luck with the interviewsOfficial DFW Nerd Club member no. 0190 -

Hi John
Please don't stop doing these posts - I find them really usefull and inspiring!0 -
I buy cards from the local market, they are exactly the same quality as the card shop but much cheaper, I even get discount because I buy so many...big family and lots of friends.
I agree about the cost of things like deoderant in the supermarket, you don't realise how expensive they are, now I only buy BOGOFS in Boots or I go to Wilkinsons.
Keep up the good work you will start to see the results soon.0 -
Well done John!
Apart from putting my new boiler on a credit card (that or no boiler & no heat or hot water), I've not used my cards since August 2005.0 -

Keep up the good work. Sounds like you re thinking more creatively with your money now, and it feels much better when you know you've spent less than you would have before.0 -

Well done you!! You are doing so well
If its any help, I find that Boots have a reduced to clear section, Quite often I can pick up shampoo/deodourant/shower gel for under a £1 a go and this is all branded stuff, in Jan I picked up 4 twin packs of Sure deo spray for well under £1.50 each (I cant remember the exact cost) so that worked out at well under 75p per can......its worth a rummage!!! and you also collect points on these items aswell.Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!0
