Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

Nerds! So offensive... I had a shower this morning for a start.
I think that Martin meant to say GEEKS. Geeks get things done using the best available resources and techniques. Geeks also spend a lot of time learning about what they want to to do so they can do it well.
I'm a money geek now. I never used to be, which is why I now need to learn as much as I can and apply it in the best way possible.
It's certainly not a negative term. Lance Armstrong is a cycling geek. Tiger Woods a golf geek. Steve Jobs a tech geek. Donald Trump a business geek. You can't argue with that kind of success.
Geek is cool. Nerd implies lack of hygiene and social skills.Student Loan Company Ltd: 17,805 (2.8%) Overdraft: 500 (Interest free)

Noooo !!!
I'm proud and happy to be a DFW nerd.
A geek implies we should all have acne, and wear anoraks whilst carrying a bag containing our trainspotting gear. :rotfl:
I'd rather stay a nerd if it's ok with everyone :TIs it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

No, that's backwards. Nerd is such a dirty word (think Revenge of the Nerds...) Replace the word 'nerd' for the word 'geek' in your sentance above and it's correct.
Geek represents people who get things done. Simple.
Here, dont believe me? Here's the respective Wikis for geek and nerd.
Definition of geek, and I quote, "A geek (IPA: [giːk]) is a person who is fascinated, perhaps obsessively, by obscure or very specific areas of knowledge and imagination."
Hardly sounds antisocial now, does it?
Obviously this geek/nerd debate requires a paradigm shift.
There's no picture of Urkel on the geek entry...Student Loan Company Ltd: 17,805 (2.8%) Overdraft: 500 (Interest free)
