joint mortgage with ex ? what to do

i got a joint mortgage with ex bf about 10 years ago we had a bad split and i just moved out having no more contact with him.He was paying the mortgage through his bank the whole time,I am now married and don,t know what to do as i have left it so long any ideas where i stand with this

    you're going to need to get in touch with him if you want to come off the mortgage. It would be a good idea to do this anyway as if he stops paying the mortgage you could be in trouble, best to get these things sorted sooner rather than later to be fair.

  • If you are still a mortgagor on the property you could still be subject to join and several liability so as the above thread, if he stops paying the mortgage company could look to get the payments from you or if your ex-partner went bankrupt or had the property re-possessed then any shortfall debt resulting from this you would also be liable for, and that is 100% liable not 50% liable.
