Well, all my wedding preparations have brought out a creative side I didn't know I had! I've been busy making decorations for the venue (bunting, jar jar lanterns etc). Anyway, I've decided to make a guestbook for everyone to sign and write nice messages in. More precisely I've decided to buy a simple, hardback scrapbook-type thing and personalise it.
I'd like to write/print a few things in there myself, to start people off and give some inspiration! (I'll also include some photos and other bits and pieces) I'm thinking of stuff like a verse from a poem, quotes, sayings etc. Obviously they'll have a wedding/marriage/love theme. Any ideas (for things to write as well as other things to include) gratefully received!
Thank you!

I think a wedding guest book is a lovely idea. To take some of the workload from your shoulders ( I know how busy you can get when planning for a wedding) and to encourage your guests to write in it on the day, why not ask your bridesmaids/best man etc to start the ball rolling with their own personal messages. Lots of people don't like to be the first to write a message, so if there are some there already it may help to get their creative juices going!0

I recently came accross a company that used the guest book idea but on a plate - sounds odd I know but it was amazing!!! The guests sign the plate and then it is decorated and glazed - BEAUTIFUL!!
Let me know if you like the idea and I will try to dig out their details. Thanks to everybody in the crafting threads who inspired me to start my own business!!0 -
Someone told me recently about a wedding they had been to where the guests wrote their messages onto small pieces of card and attached them to a metal tree. The messages were going to be made into a scrapbook by the bride and groom. I thought this was a fab idea and would imagine it looks beautiful on the day.
Have just had a quick google for wedding guest tree and several sites look like they offer the service of hiring such trees. There is probably a way of doing this yourself without the cost of the tree? If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
My brother and new sister-in-law did something similar to the tree: guests wrote messages on shiny parcel tags (like these but on lovely shiny silver card and with black ribbon rather than string) and we tied them to a candelabra that they already owned. Looked lovely. To be honest I'd probably find writing on a plate quite nerve-wrecking: it took me three goes to write my message on parcel tags (after a few glasses mind) so I probably wouldn't ahve risked writing on a plate as I wouldn't have been able to screw it up and start again if I went wrong!0

I love this idea too. We were going to leave gift tags on the table at our wedding asking for a message on the tags and then stick them directly into a scrapbook afterwards. I would have looked lovely. In the end we just went with a normal guestbook which our BM took around. Even that was lovely though, people leave such nice messages.0 -
I think what you will read from those messages are the usual congratulations, best wishes, and I'm happy for the both of you, etc.
Well to save time in reading same messages, my idea is to have a message corner where people who wanted to say some special messages can leave their note. Put a tag in that corner saying something like "special messages for the new couple". To blend with your theme you can put decorations in it. I guess that's the starting point, add some personal touches from your creativity.0 -
One of our photographers left the wedding once the reception was finished, and returned for the evening reception with a photo of me and my new hubby enlarged and mounted, and put it on an easel at the door, and my guests signed all around the mount. It looks beautiful, and went down very well as an unusual idea.
as for a few sayings / words of advice to start the book off, ive just found these few off the internet -
Our Wedding Message to You
We have dreamed of this moment for so long
And it is finally here today
We appreciate you sharing it with us
Especially to those who came a long way
We hope you enjoy your dinner
The dancing and all the fun
And don?t forget to keep in touch
When all this is said and done
On the table you will find some treats
Cameras, rose petals, and bubbles
And we have some favors to ask of you
If it is not too much trouble
If you are wondering what the bubbles are for
Don?t worry you will have your chance
To blow them together all at once
As we share our first dance
Please pass the cameras all around
Be creative and fun
Just be sure to leave them on the tables
When you are all done
You can shower us with rose petals
As we leave to start our new life
For tomorrow we will be embarking on a new journey
As husband and wife!
Many thanks to you, we're so glad you came,
In our guest book, please sign your name
And write, perhaps, a line or two
By which we may remember you.
Then, when our wedding day has passed,
Our mem'ries of this day will last,
For when we look at it, we'll see
Kind words from friends and family!
Life begins for us all with nothing but love,
so perfect and full, that is given from above.
Then each of our paths differs from another
as we learn about love from a father and mother,
from brothers and sisters, family and friends.
In a world where nothing lasts we find love never ends.
So we travel a path searching for a perfect love
to share, like that which we receive from above.
It is truly a blessing when true love grows,
forming a union between two kindred souls.
And now that path leads us to a moment like this,
when a perfect love is pledged and sealed with a kiss. You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0
