So basically...it wouldn't be any probs if I ask them if I can keep the details of my eye exam?
How do I go about doing it for when I want to send it off?0 -
They will give you a prescription which you can take anywhere to get filled.
That's what I did. Got a free eye test, then went to Specsavers and got 2 pairs for the price of one.0 -
I booked an appointment on Sat, they asked if I am paying for it. I said I have a voucher and it was OK.
Well I am planning to get new lens for my old frame(s) if my prescription is changed (which I think is changed a great deal)
Can anybody recommend who are cheapest in this service? i.e. New prescription lens for old frames. Also if they offer me to change it for about £10 - £20 would that be OK or do I have another affordable/good option?
I have 3 very high quality frames (as a Gift) and want to continue using them with new prescription.0 -
I went to the D&A free eye test and they where BRILLIANT.
They'd done tests that i hadn't even had done the first time i had an eye test.
They also gave me a little voucher thing with all my eye details, turns out i have better than 20:20 vision to!
They also said they'd send me a letter in 2 years time for another eye test and I'll happily pay £25 next time.
That was D&A basildon by the way.

My Eye test went fine but there was a prescription change as I feared. I asked staff at D & A for new lens for my old glasses and they quote me £150 with no guarantee. I just took the prescription and left.
As somebody suggested earlier I went on to http://www.glassesdirect.co.uk and was amazed to see the prices. Good thing about that site was that I was able to upload my own picture and then try the frames online. I selected one of £15 frame and on checkout it applied 10% (which I didnt knew why, later found out cause I live in Newcastle area).
I have had same kind of glasses from SpecSavers before and that did cost me £95 in total at that time. I was very happy to receive the glasses and amazed to see that it was as good quality as of SpecSavers. Will definately going to use them again. I do tend to lose glasses a lot.
P.S.

I've booked an appointment for tomorrow....so that I can use the prescription to buy a pair online.
A thing I'm a bit concerned about....from what I remembered, the pupillary distance measurement is taken prior to purchasing glasses in store right? Would it seem like I'm taking the pish if I ask the opticians to take the measurement (even though it is blatantly obvious that I am not interesting in buying from them) - do they have the right to refuse?
Also, when it's all finished, I just ask them for a copy of the prescription right?0 -
I dont know what "pupillary distance measurement" is and if that is already on prescription or not but they happily give you prescription and it says on voucher you are not bound to buy glasses.
After my test I asked how much a pair would be, just like the one I had online from glasses direct and they said £90 to £120. My answer was "guess I will have to come back with my bro who will pay". That was it, I came out as a happy man with prescription.
I ordered online and got them in £15.75 or something inc delivery.
Also remember if you get it and not happy with it just send it back for a refund. So thats really worth a try.
"Shouldnt go to high street opticians"
Hope that helps0 -
Seems like the D&A offers change almost monthly.
Here's the link to their overview page:
