Hiya,
I am looking for some advice and I really hope someone can help me.
My boyfriend who lives wth me, has ran up alot of debts with different companies, and we are considering that he goes bankrupt.
How does this process work?
We had someone from welcome finance come round tonight, demanding 7 and a half thousand pounds, they said that he would need to pay £300 by friday, otherwise it would go to court, and they would take possessions from the house, even though he has nothing of value i brought the tv etc, but he said that because my boyfriend lived with me they had every right to take things from the flat, even though they belong to me and I would have to take it up with the baliff. he has debts from other tings such as overdrawn in bank accounts, which have racked up.
This is what he owes:
Can he go bankrupt? What would be the implications
He hasnt paid anything towards these debts at all, does this make a difference. He has ignored the letters tehy have sent, and stupidly burried his head in the sand. The welcome finance one was for a car loan, he wrote the car off in 2 months, and the insurance paid £7000, and now they want another 7 grand..........
We rent a flat togther at the moment, and pretty much all the 'big' possesion in our flat are mine, such as TV, computer etc. Can they take this stuff away?
He gets his wages pad into my account, as he no longer has a bank account due to running up overdrawn fees, etc I have savings, can they touch this?
He doesnt really have anything of value to give, he drives an old vw golf, so there isnt much chance of them taking that.
He earns around £250, maybe a bit less a week, and £130 of that goes on rent a week, I pay all the bills.
There isnt any way that he could pay off these debts, and we do think bankruptcy is the best option.
I hope someone can help, or give me some advice, I just dont know what to do, my other half likes to bury his head in the sand, he has decided that he should go bankrupt. I am worried that my things will be taken, I just dont know what to do...............
Thanks in advance

Bankruptcy costs just over 500 pounds to do.
He can whack all of his debts onto it. (not sure about the parking fine though, maybe someone else can confirm) and only debts in his name will be placed on the bankruptcy.
Tv's and household goods they won't be interested in. Unless you have antiques lying around the gaff. They don't operate like Bailiffs. Basically if you have a car worth 4k they will show an interest and a mortgage, they will show an interest in the house. Anything else and they ain't interested (unless there is a likely event of savings). So don't worry, your items are safe.
There are some stickied threads on here that will give you more information, just look at the top of the forum. Just thought you were freaking out a little and needed a little guidance.
I can do a little guidance lol, I'm just not qualified really to do much more than that. You should definitely phone one of the debt line people though CCCS or National Debtline and they can talk you through your options. They are pleasant, helpful, non judgmental people who will talk through with you what your options are.
Good luck!0 -

Read the stickies at the top of the forum

Unless he has possessions worth over £1,000 they will not be touched. And only HIS possessions, not yours
He doesnt really have anything of value to give, he drives an old vw golf, so there isnt much chance of them taking that.
Yes there is, unless he can prove that it is used for work, and even then they might say public transport.
If you have any joint accounts at all, the 'debt' will fall to you. He needs to speak to CCCS or National Debtline in the first instance.Get free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000

They stood outside, had to be the one and only time my boyfriend decided to strip the door, and they turn up :-)
