Bento type lunchboxes at Aldi

I was in Aldi today and saw these lunchboxes, which are very like the Japanese Bento boxes. They had two kinds - one which was for salad and which had a separate click in bit with a little pot for dressing and a click in bit with a fork, and the other one has 3 separate sections which are sealed when the lid is on and there are two click in slots in the lid with a knife and fork. They are dishwasher and microwave safe too. They had various colours and the best thing was that they were only £1.49 each! I got two of the salad bowl types and two of the divided lunchbox ones. I just looked on the Aldi website but they weren't listed in the specials because they only have the ones for next Thusday and Sunday and these must have been last Sunday or Thursday. I reckon they were a good OS bargain!

I'd really recommend these. The 3 compartment one has gone down a storm in our house. and for £1.49 they are really sturdy.0 -
I must admit I am tempted to investigate. There is an Aldi not too far away but its the busfare there and back that puts me off. There are some lovely bento boxes and accessories out there, but a lot of them are just so expensive.
For inspiration for what to put in them check out The Food Pornographer's blog. She hasn't been taking lunches lately but last year there were a lot of bento posts and photos, really inventive as to using leftovers and they all look DELICIOUS ! A good tip I picked up from there for packed lunches was to use silicon muffin cases to put sauces and oddments of food in. Reusable, helps keeps things seperate within the box and looks good." Baggy, and a bit loose at the seams.. "~ November 8th 2008. Now totally DEBT FREE !~0 -
Would they be suitable for a DIY airline meal for holidays? I hate grubbing round with bits of clingfilm and foil!0
