thanks for your advice and support. we have not claimed child tax credit as a couple of years ago when we were claiming we recieved a letter saying that they had overpaid us by £1650

we are currently paying that back at £50 a month and i dont want to claim again incase the same thing happens!!!

Don't you just love how this government messes things up by not working it out properly - then asks you to pay for it back when you're a family on a low income....

but hey hun - if you were an MP - you could claim to have your moat cleaned..... or pay your mortgage that you had already paid off!!!

Ooooppsss sorry did I get all political just then :o

Well done on your list of things to do!!!:T

we are all just pawns in a horrible game & the politicians don't give a fcuuuuuuk about any of us

but let's take our own destinies in our own hands & rid ourselves of our debts :D:D

for many of us it's not a sprint but a marathon & let's make sure we all win the race :T

It does annoy me that we have to pay it back as we gave them the correct details so how can they demand that sort of money back!!

well have not managed to get on over the weekend as have been out and about most of it :o

both the hsbc loan and the car loan come out this week so that will be just under £300 knocked off our total debt figure.

really need to go shopping so might have to ask my dad to borrow some money and i will pay him back next week!!! i hate asking family for money it is just sooooooo embarrasing!!!

im going to set up a so for the minimum payments on the credits cards too so i dont forget to pay them and then i can add to it when we have money throughout the month if that makes sense!!!

anyway better get on as my eldest has had the sickness bug and he is calling me!!!:D

    Hi.
I thought I would have a quick look to see if you had a diary and here it is!!
Re. tax credits, as you know we are paying off a so called overpayment:mad:.
As OH is out of work, we are only paying £10 a month (they came up with that amount after going through incoming/outgoings with them). They told us to keep applying for it as we are entitled to it, so we did and to be honest, at the moment, that is what is keeping us afloat!
It could be worth you looking into it. I just make sure I photo copy and date EVERYTHING I send them!

How old is your youngest? Once he/she turns 3, you will get funding for him/her for 12 1/2 hours a week at pre school. After Sept 2010 that goes up to 15 hours of funding. Some areas are in a pilot scheme to start it in Sept this year, maybe you will be lucky!

I would agree with trixy about trying to clear your cap1 card asap, then concentrate on the next highest apr.

Good luck. I will drop by when ever i am about.
    K

    hi Elsas mamma

my little one was 3 in april but we wont get the government grant till september, as that will be the term after his third birthday, which is pretty frustrating as it works out quite expensive and he only goes 2 days at the moment!!

oh gets paid tomorrow so i have definatly got to go shopping as i still have not been and the cupboards are basically bare!!! going to try and spend under £50 as i need to get some cleaning stuff and washing powder too.

should be quite a good pay cheque for oh this week so im going to try and put at least £60 for extra payments on the ccs but i wil wait and see what the bank accounts look like before i get my hopes up!!!!

anyway going to have a nose through the other diarys then get the 2 devil children in th bath!!! :D

    Hi,
depending on when in April his birthday is, the term after his 3rd birthday started on 20th April. It could be worth double checking with your pre-school or even your local Early Years team (their number should be readily available at the pre-school)

    Good luck with the bathing!!!

    Hiya Sillybillyme :)

Just popping in to subscribe to your thread, sounds like you are doing really well so far, I would echo what others have said about the CTC, I had an overpayment a few years ago (can't remember the amount) but they collect it weekly out of my current award so I don't notice the different IYSWIM...

Definately worth applying for tho, most weeks we would really struggle without it!

    Good luck :)

i think i will look into claiming it again and see if they can deduct what we owe from what we get!! every little helps i suppose :D

i recieved my asda cc statement, hsbc cc statement and choice catalogue statement though the post yesterday!!! why do they all have to come together!!!

i forgot to put my choice catalogue on my soa for some reason but i currently owe £91.43 and it is 0% until december so i will make sure that is paid off by then, i usually pay about £40.00 a month on it anyway so should be clear sooner!!

i am going to get my current statements out in a bit and add them to my sig so i can cross them out as i clear them, hopefully that should give me more motivation seeing it on the screen!!!
