Problems with C&G - Advice Please!

Options
Good Afternoon,

I was woundering if anyone could offer some advice on the current problems that me and my partner are having at the moment.

In January 2009 we went to see a IFA to see if we could get a mortgage before we went looking at houses. We were accepted in principle by C&G and that is when we started looking for a house.

In March we put an offer in on a house that we liked and visited the IFA to inform him with what we had done and set to the ball rolling for the mortgage etc...

The mortgage application was submitted to C&G at the beginning of April and it was referred, same as the first time when we applied in January. ( The reason for this was because i have poor credit rating going back to 2005), anyway they accepted the mortgage and it went to valuation more than 6 weeks ago. We didn't hear anything for about a week and a half after the valuation and it them prompted me to contact the IFA to check what was happening with our mortgage. IFA advised that when he called C&G they have stated that they are not happy with lending the money because they have carried out internal audit checks on ramdon files, ( ours was picked ) and looked back further in our credit scoring and found that i had financial problems in 2005. ( I have been clear for 3 or more years). It took them 2 weeks to tell us this information.

Anyway, we have decided that the mortgage will have to be done in my partners name only, but they would not lend the amount that we need. We have a 25% deposit on a house that we have bought for £110k. They would only let us borrow £4,500 less than what we wanted. Which is fine and we have found the money, meaning that we are only borrowing £78k. They told my partner that this was now all ok and that it was accepted. another week passed and we hadn't heard anything from IFA or C&G. My partner called again chasing and they turned road and said that they needed upto date wage slips. My partner faxed the wage slips to them and it took another week for them to tell us the the qulity of the wage slips that were sent by fax was not good and have asked for a reference from my partners employer. Reference was issued to C&G and another week went by hearing nothing and my partner called on Monday to find out were things were upto and they said they were not happy with the reference as my partners employer had left blank that he received extra money/overtime and bouns pay, when he does. They will not accept another reference and has now said that the only way they will give him a mortgage is if he paid the £4,500 a loan that he has and this will be a condition of the acceptence of the mortgage. If he does this then they will lend him the amount that we need of £82k. C&G said that they were going to fax over the acceptance of he mortgage this morning but we had heard nothing. So my partner called this afternoon for them to tell us that we want in writting from the loan company that if he pays off the £4,500, what the monthly payments will be reduced by.

I am sorry for the essay but i just wanted to know if anyone is having problems with their mortgage company in there processing of mortgages or is it just us??? I understand that with the current climate that banks don't want to lend but this is a joke. We feel that we are being messed around and we really want to cancel a go else where but we would loose out on the fees that we have paid areadly. They were quick enough to take our money!!!

Thank you for listening.
