scarf pattern

Has anyone got a pattern for a scarf knitted on big needles and using the multi-coloured wool, e.g. fizz? I want the scarf with the slit in it to put one end through. Is that clear (as mud)?

Hope this is alright for you

Use size 8mm needles and cast on 20 stitches work in StSt untill you get to about 2/3 of the length required then work 6 stitches in pattern cast off 8 stitches and then work last 6 stitches. Next row pattern 6 stitches, cast on 8 stitches and then work last 6 stitches. Carry on for last 1/3 of scart in St St.

St St - stocking stitch - 1 row knit, 1 row purl

I've never heard of a slit in a scarf before but what a great idea!

I made one without a slit before Christmas and I used three balls of fizz and 20 stitches (but ended up with 19) and knitted till I used up the wool.

not sure if im interpreting this right, but perhaps cariad is mistaking the slit with the current fashion of wearing the scarf pulled through in a loop?

in which case, its just a normal (although long-ish) scarf, folded in half length ways, so you form a loop at one end and have the 2 open ends at the other. you then put this across your shoulders, and pull the 2 loose ends through the loop, and tighten according to comfort.

(my poor old nan had been wondering for ages how we were all wearing our scarves in this strange new way :D :rotfl: )

if i've got the wrong end of the stick, just ignore me  :D

Many thanks to you all for your replies, especially to oops-a-daisy for the pattern. Lovely, many thanks. Pavlovs dog and In My Wellies might want to follow the pattern too. Yes, you can make a scarf with a slit in it. Very fashionable, don't you know?!!

    Thanks again OOps-a-diasy.

there is a few ways of making it Pavlos Dog. You can also knit a straight scarf and then just add an small piece from side to side approx 1/3 of the way along and just tuck the scarf through :) bit dfficult to explain on here LOL

let me know how it goes if you make it cariad :)
