Tax Allowance when moving abroad

Morning all,

Hope someone can help. I move to Switzerland in 2 weeks to work for our Head Office. I plan to be there for 5 years. I have been employed in the UK and paying tax this tax year, as my earnings for 2009 will be circa £6000, would I be entitled to a tax refund?

Or does the allowance get time apportioned?

Many thanks

Allowances are not apportioned, so your tax free allowance is due in full. You will need to download form P85 from www.hmrc.gov.uk. Assuming you will be signed off the UK payroll, they should give you a P45 which you send in with the P85.

P85 when you leave the country
P86 when you return to work in this country

Any refund can be sent to your bank if there's no one here to receive it. Or you can nominate someone to receive the refund.
