BTW Are you ready for 1st August launch?
    I never said which year!

No, got side tracked. Needed to upgrade my existing site first, so I could install this software, that was supposed to work, which then didn't, which then involved discussions about moving hosts/servers and services ... to where Generali lives, so then I had to think and thought "no", so had to think/negotiate a new deal... and then I need to get that lot running ....

... and then, I can get back to what I was planning.

I HAVE, however, got the ad server running - and that's showing some interesting statistics.

It might be October for "the new thing" now.

Strangely, I don't really do this "for money", I actually enjoy these annoyances, hiccups, holdups, frustrations etc... even though they do hold me back all the time and aren't really of any commercial use whatsoever :)

Firstly.. I shouldn't be posting in this thread.

Yes.. I googled "Liz Jones" last night, after glancing through this thread. I thought she might be the same woman who paid Garrington (Phil Whatshisname) about £50,000 in a home-finder fee, and revealing how shoddy the process was, how little they did for their fee, including a letter full of typos ect.. but that must be another journo-woman.

Yes. £400K on clothes. Doesn't surprise me that others like to read tales of wild excess and then regret. One reason I enjoyed this series of Property Snakes & Ladders so much. People like to read about others making mistakes, being outrageous, doing less-well than themselves, complaining when their complaint has no merit but individual responsibility, ect ect. One reason some readers might connect with Max's blog, and how it might develop over the months (not me).

As for the other things she writes about.. which people enjoy reading, and she gets well paid for, great, and if the same happens for Max and he turns his blog in to some wonder-following which sees him get lots of income/job - I'll be proven wrong, and everyone in the thread can cheer at my "narrow-minded" attitude.

What you posted about Liz Jones £400K spending matches the tale I read of her last night, on her sub-prime stuff.

    Marvellous.

Now how about answering PN and my questions..? ;)

    Yeah dopester ... how?
    Give us a list
    How?

I certainly don't have any skills or talents that would earn me money, to be honest. Max does and he's pursuing those job adverts when they appear ... but not everybody can actually do things that produce instant money.

    So how?

    hmmm?

Writing a blog doesn't take much time out of a day, hell, I could probably think one up and form the wording of it in my mind whilst in the loo!

Being out of work is soul destroying (and financially rather trying) and any divertion, no matter how small, can be the difference between keeping that hope and self respect there enough to carry on searching and thinking outside of the box or just completely giving up.

I have my site to distract me, it keeps my skills honed, builds up the contacts but has never and will never detract from my search for gainful employment and progression in my life.

Most of us think that if we lost our job, that we can just walk straight into another one or we could just utilise one of our skills to go it on our own but the reality is rather different and rather more difficult to create, no matter how hard you try.

Max's blog is serving a purpose of keeping his enthuasiasm going in a trying time.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Max, I know Liz is dark and skinny (very), but she is susceptible to a bit of male attention, see I read her too.

How about pinging her an e-mail, advising that she is being hotly debated on this forum and requesting a meeting to discuss business opportunities. I am sure that you could engage her attention and elicit a response.

After reading the Henry Root Letters, years ago, I wrote letters to famous people and got some terrific responses. My favourite reply was from Margaret Thatcher.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

Sure that's not true - your internet skills could earn you money, I'm sure.

Out of interest, PN, how much do your various internet ventures earn you? More than JSA, I take it? Is there any money to be made doing what you do (not that I'm very clear what that is....) or blogging as Max is, for those many who are not lucky enough to turn into the next Liz Jones and get book deals/newspaper columns etc?

Re the dopester thing, I'm kind of with him - whilst I'm not knocking Max for what he's doing, as he obviously enjoys it and it may take him where he wants to go - there are probably more profitable ways of earning money. Till I'd taken the leap to being self-employed, I'd never have believed people would hand over cash for my skills, but they do - still find it very unnerving and uncomfortable, but I'm sure there are so many niches out there waiting to be filled - if only we spotted them - that the world is as hole-y as fc's fishnet dresses.

And those models on the front of Vogue, they never have a single blemish or pimple do they?

Ever heard of airbrushing, or more likely Photoshop?
