Cashing in forgotten foreign pension?

My husband lived in Sweden for a couple of years during the mid 90's and contributed to a pension whilst he was there. He had to leave sweden quite suddenly and the pension was forgotten about. We have just been having a clearout and found the details for it and now we are wondering if it will be possible to cash it in? It's not a huge amount (about £500 at the time) but anything would come in useful at the moment!!
Hope someone can advise (the company only has an englsih service on friday afternoons so can't speak to them!)
