I wanna a mattress topper for my caravan

Hi, I hope someone on here can help, I have looked on the massive thread about 'which mattress' but most of it is discussing actual mattresses. We already have a Ikea mattress topper but we are very disappointed in the quality considering it is not used all the time there are indents were our bodies lie and it is no longer comfy. We would like a memory foam topper but there are so many on the market and some that we looked at just look like lumps of foam. I am hoping there are some caravaners on here that can recommend a topper that can be stored away during the day.
Please help, FiFi :)

I'm not a caravan owner but having just bought a memory foam topper for my bed & doing a bit of research beforehand I found out the following.

The lower density & therefore thinner foam of 2" & under is fine if you like a soft bed & weigh no more than about 11 stone, medium density of 3" is a bit firmer & anything above 3" will be quite firm.

If you needed something to be stored away, then you'd be best getting one of the thinner ones as they are surprisingly heavy & too bulky to roll up for daytimes. Mine is a 3" as I didn't want anything too soft, but not too firm either & would be too bulky to roll up.

Perhaps a good feather & down topper would be more suitable for you if you need to roll it up & store during the daytime?

Yes memory foam does look like a lump of foam to the naked eye, but British foam is recommended, as there is a lot of cheap foreign rubbish on the market. Mine didn't have any initial smell to it, which I understand some memory foam toppers do. You can get covers for them if the bed is of a pretty standard size.

I bought mine from an ebay seller, who was very helpful before I made my purchase. I think their id is beddybuys4u. But there are a few other sellers with good feedback selling British fmemory foam & giving good info on the auction page about memory foam toppers.

Hope this is of some help.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • Got one from Argos for making the caravan bed more comfortable, used to get back ache. It fits the double bed made up in the van and can be rolled up and stored away in the daytime again - under the seats if rolled up well. Was close to £100 I seem to remember but well worth it now I don't wake up with backache every day when on holiday. I was getting so fed up with the discomfort.

Sufficient for the day are it's own worries.:cool:

The depth of the topper is actually nothing to do with the firmness, it is the density that dictates this. Try and find one that is British made, and is 2" deep, with a density of 60 to 70kg per m3.
