HSBC are notoriously slow, you could be looking at 2 weeks easily. Best thing to do is ring them.

Depends on the valuation really but shouldn't impact hugely on processing times

Erm.... I believe every company has an average time of 2 weeks?

It depends on your application to be honest. The maximum time to get an answer on your application to become successful is 5 working days. If done in branch and you have a phone call the next day, 2 days.

It then takes 2 working days for the second bout of application forms to be delivered to you and to confirm you want the mortgage. Once you sign this and return this, they will carry out a survey.

This is standard procedure but if you have notified your mortgage advisor they can actually send out a survey the following day. But just remember the survey is none refundable even if your mortgage application fails.

Hmmm what about if the person applying for the mortgage is currently living abroad?
