I'm definately on our electoral role, have only a current account and no other credit bar car and mortgage, both of which have never been in arrears. I've lived at the same address for 3 years+ and live well within my means. Does the default still linger somewhere in the backround? Am I missing something? How can I stil be too much of a risk despite having a good income and no more debts?
They're not obliged to offer you credit. It might not be that you're a risk, more than you're an unknown quantity, and they simply don't see how they can make enough money from the deal to offset the risk.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
We had terrible credit for years and eventually sorted it all out... around 6 years ago we started to rebuild our credit, and now its just fab.... yet despite this, no matter what, we cannot get credit with Dixons/Currys or any of the company's associated with them, so whenever I need a new fridge/cooker/washing machine etc, we save and buy cash.
I was told by one of their staff that they prefer people who are likely to miss payments as they make more money from them in the long run, don't know how true it is though.Starting weight 17st 4lb - weight now 15st 2lbs

Like here. I can afford to go and buy it outright, but I would rather my savings gain interest and finance it at 0%. I mean £40 per month is nothing in the grand scheme of things.
Sure they're not obliged to give credit. My friend applied for credit there a while ago and he's always missing payments and was a bankrupt a few years back. They snapped him up no problems.0 -
It is all a bit random. That's so we little people can never find out exactly how it works though LOL.Got Halifax Classic to reduce my interest rate by 5% woohoo - 10/06/08 Thanks MSE!
Another 3% shaved off 10/12/08
