where do i recycle video tapes

Please feel free to move this but i didn't know where to put it. I have over 50 video tapes that i want to get rid of they were blank ones that we recorded programs on. As we no longer have a video player they are useless. I have offered them on freecycle but didn't have any takers.
Is there any way i can recycle them or do i just tip them. It seems a shame.

If you have an afternoon off take the tape/film out and put them in plastic recyling. Most of the later ones didn't have metal components I think?
