Scan are selling the ML-1610 Monochrome Laser Printer for just £41.13 + Delivery (typically £7 unless a Hexus forum regular).
http://www.scan.co.uk/todayonly
This is a "Today Only" offer which expires around 11AM on the 21st.
Scan IMHO are a reliable company with excellent customer service.
I have a Samsung ML-1210 (it's older sibling) and it's been totally reliable, printing over 6000 sheets with the original toner (and a couple of refills). Cost per sheet being a fraction of a penny.
Not sure how easy the ML-1610 is to refill, but other Samsungs in the range it's just a rubber bung on the toner cartridge to gain access to refill.

Yes I bought the ML-1210 for £40 (including two toner cartridges!) a couple of years back, and it has served me very well. Not too popular with daughter, needless to say, as her beautifully-designed pictures would only print out in boring old black and white! Thanks to all who post constructively.

I have the 1510 which has been a superb tool especially for printing out large reports. I have bought bottled toner (like you two) & the supplier was http://www.consumablecafe.co.uk/acatalog/ I get my paper free through a family member, so my printing has been quick & stress free for a couple of years now. I would recommend this printer to anyone, and especially those who need to print reports regularly cheaply & quickly (for example, students).desrever sthgir lla0

I bought this printer about 10 months ago. It now needs a new toner after only average use.
The problem I have is that a toner costs around £45.
I might as well buy a new whole printer at £50.
Why do toners cost so much especially relative to the printer. Just doesnt make sense.0 -

Go through that store in my link above & you can get a bottle of toner that's good for thousands of pages for £8. The ones you get supplied with your printer aren't full up. These kits are easy to use to fill up the toner cartridges. On my 1510 there is a plug on the toner cartridge, pull that out & pour in the toner (powder) then put the plug back in. Do it carefully & there's hardly any mess. If there is, clean with cold water (heat makes the toner set). Easy peasy, and here's a link to samsung toner: http://www.consumablecafe.co.uk/acatalog/SAMSUNG_BOTTLED_TONER.htmldesrever sthgir lla0 -
You may want to wait out this one. Supposedly some people (over at hexus.net) have had problems refilling the toner on this model. It seems samsung have got upset at people refilling the cartridges and have removed the cap from the toner.
There is a "melt a hole and pour method" but I dont know how successful this is.
It's certainly put me off buying the printer, even though I have the predecesor ML1510, a excellent workhorse.I always tell the truth. Even when I lie.0 -
On the consumable cafe website they have instructions in the FAQ section on how to refill a 1610.0

The ML1610 is relatively easy to refill. Simply remove the right hand end panel by using a small screwdriver to remove 2 tiny screws which will then give you access to a small circular plug which needs to be carefully removed before you can refill the toner cartridge. It is always good practice the first time you attempt to refill a toner cartridge to shake out any toner powder remaining in the cartridge (simply throw it away in a plastic bag) and gently clean the green roller using a lint-free cloth which removes any chance of toner contamination and will significantly increase the life of the roller if it is cleaned each time. You'll Never Be Rich Working for Someone Else0

Sounds easier to refill then my ML-1520, I have to remove about 5 screws so that the top part comes off and then pour toner into the hopper, I've got a bottle of toner refill however I havent run out of the toner that came with it yet.0 -
STAPLES are selling these at the minute for £49 (reduced from £99)
Just picked up a ML-1510 from Comet myself for £35 otherwise I'd have had one
