Knitting / Sewing - I want to learn

Does anyone know a site where I could ask for someone to teach me how to knit/sew? I don't know anyone locally who knows how to do it and I would love to learn.
I'm not the kind of person that can pick up skills like that by reading a book, so would need someone to actually show me how to do it IFKWIM???

Thanks

    Hi there,

I'd definately agree with the answer above - the videos on youtube are great for this. My mum taught me to knit when I was a little girl, but I had forgotten how. I was given some wool, and was determined to use it up, so decided to re-teach myself!

The videos are great, cause you can pause them whereever you like, and they won't get fed up when you check how to do the same stitch for the 100th time!

    Good luck!

Absolutely. I had also forgotten how to crochet and You Tube saved the day

Oxfam are good for needles and wool, if you have one nearby.

I know you said a site, but how about jjoining an adult ed course. I've just started a 10wk making clothes one and it was only £90 (have to provide own pattern and fabric - which were expensive!) The class works at their own pace and the teacher comes round in turn helping you individually.

Are there any knitting groups where you live? We have one in one of the big book stores cafes - turn up with your stuff and join in. I recently started going to one and it's great for asking questions and getting ideas.
