I want to buy - BIG SHOES!!!

My DS is 14 and takes a mens size 13/14 Extra wide fitting shoe. They seem to be like hen's teeth, Anybody here know of a shop (preferably as we need to try on) in London which will stock this sort of size and NOT cost me an arm and leg?

The woman in High and Mighty who had none of this size in stock at the weekend suggested Harvey Nicks ( )

Thanks.

Kate

    Hi Kate,

There is an organisation for tall people called The Tall Club. They have a website and forum where they share ideas at:
    http://www.tallclub.co.uk/index.asp

Assuming taller people have larger feet (silly assumption maybe) you might find some useful info there.
  • for online theres http://www.magnusshoes.com/ they are based in northampton, but they have a brochure which you can mail order. the other possibility is looking state side, footlocker.com have large sizes (look in shoes for exact us size) they deliver to the uk but customs may hit you. The other possibility is to go on ebay and have a look at the worldwide items.

The lady in H&Mighty gave me a copy of the Magnus brochure....I will have to try online, but it's not as simple as ordering a pair in the right size LOL! DS has big wedge shaped feet AND wears an orthotic as his feet are completely flat, we normally have to try several styles to get one to fit. If only he didn't need school shoes!!!! Otherwise we can do with trainers or skate shoes (those are a 15!)

I did order a pair on line, as we are desperate (school shoes split last week) but chances are I will have to send them back.....

We need to sort it out though, because his feet are not going to get any smaller, and they are still going to be my responsibility for a good few more years:(

    Regards

    Kate

I ve got good sized plates , though probably not as wide as DS.
I found Barretts high street shops usually stock a range of large sizes at normal prices, they also have a catalogue of all large styles available.
As previously suggested outlet centres usually have the big uns. Hatfield`s galleria has several shoe shops worth looking at.

I've got size 14/15 feet and here are some of the internet sites I've found useful:

    Walktall

Shoes Direct (some large sizes available up to size 15).

    Big/Tall Menswear

    Hope they all help.
