How many hours a day would you work

I'm after a consensus of opinion here.

I am trying to pay of a £4,500 loan from my dad.
I work full time ( Monday 7.15-4pm, Tuesday-Friday 7.45-4pm and the Occassional Saturday morning - perhaps once a month) Get about £1K take home a month.

A also coach at my Trampolining club from 6-8pm on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and on Saturday's from 1-4pm. Every couple of months we have a competition which takes up all day Sunday and sometimes the whole week-end. (I don't get paid for coaching at the club, just expenses- it's my baby)

On wednesdays I coach a kids class for a school from 4.50-5.50pm. It's term time only and I get paid £25.

Someone has approached me and asked me to teach autistic adults an hour a week - I will get paid but need to find a suitable venues and work out how much I can charge.

I have also just been asked to coach a class at local leisure centre on Thursday nights for two hours - They will probably only offer half as much as the school because it is run by the council.

I also have a dog, a BF (who hates the word trampolining!) and a family who live close by who look after the dog on Tues and Wed nights.

Should I take on the extra two classes (would have to be seperate nights as the groups are too far apart) Am I doing too much and is it really worth it?

Please help me I can't decide what to do!!!!!!!

Wow! You're certainly out there getting things done louise30.

I used to have a job that sometimes required me to work about 100 hours a week (I kid you not) and it made me realise the most important thing is balance. Weigh up whether you spend enough time with your bf, pet and family vs. the value of teaching those who may really value your help.

If you decide to go for it, you might like to slowly ease yourself in to so that you can stop and/or cut down if you change your mind.

Ultimately though, the decision is up to you and how much you favour a balanced lifestyle I suppose.

    Good luck!

Only you know if you can cope - if you can then great, but if it's going to be 'the straw that breaks the camels back', then forget it. Make yourself ill through overwork and you'll be no good for anything.

My family already think I do too much (my mam always nags because my house is a tip) and whenever I say am going to do something my BF always says aww poor dog! I feel guilty but don't know which way to jump. In an ideal world I would give up my job and just coach because I love it. At the club I run, there is loads of background work and a reckon as well as coaching the actual classes, I put in about 30 hours on top of that each week with the other stuff. I think if I didn't have a dog I would just bite the bullet and do it for a while, but I couldn't face parting with the dog.

Make sure you don't overdo it! I was working 7 days a week for a period of about 6 months. A full time job, then about 10 hours each day in the weekends. I'm always a busy person too, but I found that not having a single day where I had no work, was pretty darn tough (even if I liked what I was doing). Be careful, you can burn out pretty quickly this way...

    Hi Louise,

I know the extra money is tempting, especially if it's a job that you enjoy. I also work full time and have a part time business doing slimming clubs, at first I just did one night a week, now I'm doing 2 (though the 2nd night is only temporary). When I took on the second night my boyf was surpisingly upset by it, says I'm doing too much and we don't see each other enough. I will carry on for a bit longer with the second one but not for ever.

All I'm saying is please do talk to your OH and find out just strongly he would object to you taking the extras on. It is important that you explain to him how important it is to you that you pay back your dad, how it makes you feel, and that once the debt is repaid he and the dog will see much of you. Maybe make a real effort to plan some quality times to look forward to when you are free (and quality walks for the dog!)

Good luck whatever you do, I know how you feel!

I'd drop the Tuesday unpaid class (that still leaves Weds and Sat with 'your baby') and do the autistic adults class then, if possible.

I'd also take the Thursday leisure centre offer up. I would think you would need to drop an unpaid class, if you want a fair amount of time with your loved ones. Yes, even the dog!

My opinion would be to give up the unpaid work in the short term, see if someone will keep it ticking over for you and maybe just go in now and then. Do the paid work till your debt is paid off and then go back to the unpaid work. You do need some "you time" aswell to recharge your batteries!!
Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!
:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!
