I found this advice on the net:
Spray paint may not be your best solution. It can work okay, but if you get any overspray on the top of the votive, or on the wick, it's going to crackle and smoke. I've been making candles for about 8 years now, so trust me when I tell you that you have to take care with decorations! I found this website for you, though - http://www.walltowallstencils.com/paints... - and here's some information that might help:
"Paint products specifically made for painting on candles and soap are now available. Candle and Soap Paints can be purchased for painting directly onto candles and soaps. If you already own a ton of acrylic paints and don't want to invest in more paints, you can simple buy one bottle of candle and soap painting medium (both Delta and DecoArt manufacture this product). Simply mix equal parts of the candle and soap medium with acrylic paint and then stencil."
They sell metallic acrylic paints at any local craft store, and even at places like Wal-mart. A little goes a long way, especially on small candles like votives. Hope that helps!Good luck!
This is the candle medium you'd need, then paint with acrylic over the top http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DecoArt-Candle-Painting-Medium-59ml_W0QQitemZ200321705372QQcmdZViewItem
I don't think that the cream candles would detract from the colour scheme though, cream goes with pretty much everything. Alternatively, could you fill the bowls with plain water (no stains on anyone if it spills!) and use purple floating candles instead?0 -
you might get some at christmas time noticed your wedding is next year you could have a look before and after xmas then if not luck then spray them xxwins :- x2 hair dyes ,mascara, epilator, personalised card , glass photo ,comp angels please throw some luck my way

Your colour scheme sounds like mine. I love your idea of coloured water - what do you use to do this? is it just food colouring or something?
Did a quick google for silver floating candles - some at the bottom of this page if you want to bulk buy!

or you can buy individually here but more expensive

there are some on ebay as well. happy hunting, hope you find some suitable! _party_0 -

Sounds like my colour scheme too! For the coloured water you can use normal food colouring. If you are be careful as Ive done this before and it ended up attracting a load of ants :eek:0
