I'm about £150 short on my Bankruptcy Fee

As title suggests about £150 short of the £522 needed and am going to Court this Monday. It's the only day I could get off work and if i don't go this Monday I wont be able to do it for a few more weeks if not longer.

Can't source the extra £150 from anywhere, I've tried.

What are people's experiences with the OR in relation to withdrawing cash on a credit card on the day of going BR? I'm thinking of taking the £150 this way. Really did not want to do this, but might have to.

Over the last 2 months, I've not used any of my credit cards at all, as I knew I may well be heading down the BR route and did not want to run the risk of anything that would mean a BRO.

Generally deemed acceptable with OR's to nab some of the fee through a credit card (cash)? Or am I going to get grief (or worse) over it do you think?

  • I don't think that you'll have any problem as other people have done this and got away with it. The very fact that you are going bankrupt demonstrates that you lack disposable income. Lots of people use credit cards, overdrafts, etc., to pay the full fees and so far, I am not aware of anybody being reprimanded or sanctioned for this. The OR is more concerned with large expenditure or frivolous spending just prior to bankruptcy.

Try not to worry too much and good luck!

Who's to say that that £150 was for your bankruptcy fees as opposed to groceries/rent? It's beyond unlikely that you'll even be asked about it. If you are, just say it was for general living expenses.
