...Microwave chips.

This is probably sacrilege here, but anyway... We've been buying Fries to Go for quite along time, so every so often we can have a quick meal without the gas (just chip butties, if it matters). They taste good, not like Micro Chips. The price has gone up and Sainsburys have stopped stocking them; so it's looking pretty bad. We'd like to still be able to have chips but we don't want to turn the oven on and they're against any frying?! Is there a way to do them in the microwave myself? I don't have a microwave oven, just a regular old microwave.

It isn't look very hopeful right now. We're growing potatoes and we buy them anyway so we could use raw potatoes; or we'd buy frozen ones? I was looking at this:

BUT I can't find any reviews whatsoever. Anywhere. Would it even work?

:o

I have one and yes it does work.

You heat it up first then cook you oven chips, ALWAYS use oven gloves with it as it gets very hot.

You can cook more than just oven chips as it heats up. Pizzas, bacon, steaks, burgers, and fish.

You can also use it in combination microwaves as it cooks from the bottom and the top.

Wow! That's excellent. Really glad to hear from someone else who has one. Thanks a lot - I'll probably go ahead and order one then.

How do you heat it up first? Do you microwave it alone for some time?

Yes. You put it the microwave alone and heat for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes depending on the microwave rating before adding your chips. It gets very hot so you MUST use oven gloves. (Its like oven tray but for microwaves.)

This tray crisps and browns so you can turn chips / burgers over to cook both sides.

Hi Rikki. I was just wondering where you got yours from? I can get it online but it would be easier to get it from a store.

You could buy a couple of portions of chips from the local chippy and freeze them. They microwave from frozen in about 1-2 minutes and they taste just as good as fresh. We buy two bags and they last us a month.

I bought mine many years ago from our local department store. I have never seen them any where since. I looked again a few years ago for my son for university and couldn't find any.
