to proove ID you just need a letter with your name and address on it. A utility bill etc or letter from child ben etc. A statement from your previous bank, your NI card or medical card, if you rent your house you could take your tenancy agreement as it is a legal document.

What did you use to open your nat west account?

Why not open an account from RBS as they are part of the same group as NAt west so theoretically their system should recognise you.

PLus there has been a change in the system and banks can use the electoral role if you ahve lived at your address for over 3 yrs. I have just opened an account at TSB without ID. Sorry I should ahve ut that bit first!!

LOL! Thats okay, I've sent off for forms from a few banks and the only one to reply was HSBC (don't really want to go with them anyway but forgot!) their list says the ones you've mentioned are proof of address but not ID but I'm sure they or other banks will be flexible.

Will ring tax office after new tax year and get a coding notice as there's no mad rush. I opened my Natwest account when I was 9 and just got it upgraded all the time.

Military ID and Police Warrant Cards too :D :P

If you mean Forces ID cards then have been taken off the list for the Bank I'm with as they do not have an expiry date on them.
