Been Stopped in Edinburgh?

Anybody know what the slightly vacant looking, dressed from head to toe, headscarf wearing, female is peddling on Princes' Street just next to the Waverly Market most days?

I have watched her a few times from the other side of the road - she seems to pick on the young, the elderly, or tourists, speak to them for a few minutes, then thay either shake their heads and walk off, or end up giving her money.

Any ideas?

  • isn't she Hare Kirshna or something?
  • yeah, i think she is Hare Kirshna. She used to give you a book if you gave her some money.

She used to stand at the top of Fleshmarket Close and ambush you when you were at your weakest - after climbing up the 300 or so steps yer too knackered to run away!!!

    I've been Money Tipped!
Thought it might be "lucky white heather". :-)

  • As long as it wouldn't get me into bother (huge minder hiding round corner, etc:eek:) I am almost tempted to go up and speak to her - I am a bit of a devil for things like that - I like few things better than winding somebody up who deserves it.;)

At least if she is speaking to me, she is leaving others alone, especially the elderly or the tourists!!:p

    Cheers!

She has many clones throughout the city! Just say gouranga and scuttle off.

    Annoying people, IMHO

  • She's a bloomin' pest. Avoid like the plague but you'll have to be capable of drastic body-swerve, if she or one of her partenres in nuisance set their mind to stopping you.

Don't think she's one of the Hare Krishna sect/cult.
