Damn, I even went to PC World today to check these out then got a call on the mobile and forgot.... have you a model specification at all please  ?
There are 2 showing on their website at £49.99 and £59.99 Hmmm...0 -
I have that Nova-T DVB-T card, and not at all impressed with it.
I bought it over a year ago from PC World.
The software crashes a lot, and the tuner is not very good, as I can only get the BBC channels where I live. My Humax box gets me all the channels.
I do live in a poor reception area, so this may affect it.0 -
got all the same channels as my freeview box , and only using a indoor aerial , I am well impressed , watching tv in the corner of the screen as im typing this..0

well i live in london so I should be alright with reception.
Thanks for the info but now that I've checked it will have to be the £59.99 one for me as I haven't a desktop.
One more thing though I recall somewhere someone saying that if there's a little antenna with it then laptop users can watch tv on the go so I will hunt for one of those I think (any excuse to while away time at work  )
Please if anyone can recommend one they have actually tried that would be most helpful and appreciated.0 -
Hi,
I have a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T PCI (new ver), bought from Dabs for about 46 pounds.
SavaStore.co.uk (yes... THAT Watford Electronics...) sells it for about 39.99.
If you do get one, I suggest NOT to use the WinTV application to watch TV. Alternatives like the SageTV are much better.
And if this is the first time you use a TV tuner card, particularly a DVB-T one, it needs some getting used to, because it is not like any other hardware. It needs much more human intervention in terms of setting up and getting it to work correctly.
The good thing is Hauppauge UK has a very good support forum, because they have an external moderator Chris Day who is extremely helpful and knowledgeable.
On mine, reception is good. May I just say that you'd need a good signal to use the card. TV tuner cards are more picky than the average freeview boxes, but the picture quality is generally better.
It comes with a remote control, which is alright.
By the way, this is totally compatible with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, providing you use the new MCE (BDA) driver from Hauppauge.0 -
Second what wywywywy says about the card and the support group. Had one for a something like 18 months now - from PC World at £49.99 rather than general £79.99 at the time.
The bundled WinTV software is frankly astonishingly poor - the interface is years (maybe a decade) out of date but does work reasonably reliably (in recent editions anyway).0 -
Also had a Hauppauge TV card - wasn't up to much poor reception; software crashed all the time..........there is a LOT better the on the market, mine so bad i purchased a TV to go next to the PC!Me i'm always after a good deal.. :rotfl:0
