This thread made me laugh, and I too had this problem with wedding dresses. How can there be so many out there, but most of a similar type. I knew I wouldn't feel relaxed having my chest, back and arms on show. Now some people have lovely arms, cleavages and so on, but I'm just not one of them, and I'm sure lots of brides are the same as me. I'm 40, so am an older bride....but not that old! I tried googling all sorts - modest dresses, dresses with sleeves, older brides, mature brides etc. In the end I found a lovely crochet cardigan in ivory and chose an ivory chiffon strapless dress to go under it. It's quite demure, and just what I wanted. It seems a shame that the bridal market doesn't cater for a wide range of 'brides.' If I found a site that seemed to sell my sort of thing, I'd have pounced on it.0

I just googled modest wedding dresses and thats the site that came up. I actually very nearly bought a so called modest dress myself as I never thought i'd be comfortable in an (almost) straples dress!
No need to apologise - I didn't think you were, honest! Actually, for the first time since looking at the dresses other peoples' links have taken me to, I thought some of the dresses on there were nice!! I was embarrassed to realise I have the same taste as Travolta's lot... Perhaps old age really is catching up with me

I just spent yesterday morning with my daughter trying on wedding dresses, all were strapless (or had detachable straps) but all were totally different! There were grecian styles, fishtail styles, a line styles, empire line styles and she looked totally different (and gorgeous!)in all of them!0

I don't really understand why they're all strapless either - I kind of want to avoid it because I reckon they'll look so dated in about ten years! But then, they've been in fashion for ages now, haven't they? I wonder what will be next...
But yeah, some of them are a bit... ugh. But that's people, right?
I'm sure some of my guests will be snidey about my dress. 0 -
So Mandragora would this be a bit much?
