Dishwasher - slimline, minimum bending required to fill it & good value!

Hi everyone! My mum has recently started suffering quite bad back problems and I would like to buy her a dishwasher so that she doesn't have to keep bending over the sink to wash up!
I would therefore like to buy her a Dishwasher where there is minimum bending required to fill it.
Also I am having to fit it in next to the washing machine and near the kitchen door, so ideally if it is a bit smaller than the washing machine it wont stick out too much!
If anyone has any good suggestions, that would be great!

Anyone? Any suggestions? The best I can do are things like this...

But I have no idea which is the best or what else is available...0 -
If bending is the main problem, you can get a small dishwasher that sits up on a worktop.
For instance the Zanussi ZSF2420 for about £230.
This looks a bit like the top half of a slimline dishwasher. so will not have a very good capacity. But would be easy to load and unlaod.
A search for Countertop dishwasher will reveal some alternative models.

Thanks, I had looked at these. I asked a couple of people I know and they said don't get 1 as they have such tiny space for items and that they don't wash very well compared to a 'proper' dishwasher. That is why I have been looking at the slimline ones...0 -
We have a slim line dishy, there was nowhere in my kitchen to fit a fullsize. I found the slimline fitted the full height cupboad in my kitchen exactly, its up on the plinth so a bit higher than floor level. If bending was aproblem I could probably have fitted it higher but it would look a bit odd.

Thanks. The dishwasher is going just outside the kitchen so no worries about height, just the bending really. It might be worth me getting the person who fits it to add a plinth underneath to make it higher/off ground level I guess... I think I will take my mum to a Comet store and see which of the 4 slimline machines that they have on their website is easiest to load without too much bending/stretching...0 -
Any other suggestions anyone? Ideas on dishwashers where you don't have to bend too much to fill them and those that arent as deep as 60cm?

I'm assuming from you mentioning that the dishwasher could be outside of the kitchen that your mum has a utility room. If that is the case, then it is probably possible to install a dishwasher at worktop height, which would negate her having to bend at all. It might cost a little more - but it is realistic.
My DH has back problems and finds loading the dishwasher far more painful than washing up in the sink!
I think you need to ask your mum what she actually needs.

It was planning to put it in the dining room/extension next to the washing machine... How do you mean at work top height? Do you mean by putting a large plinth underneath?0 -
I checked out most of the dishwashers in Comet tonight. Most of them are pretty tough to open unless you pull them quite hard. The only ones that arent are the very expensive Mieles or some Boschs. Annoyingly the Boschs with the clip you press to open the door are only on the 'normal' size. The slimline ones are the standard pull hard and open type! Grrr...0
