Hi Scottishspendaholic,
<<<<big hugs>>>>
Oh I really feel for you.
I grow and sell plants at specialist plant fairs, and I have had days just like that. I prescribe your favourite biscuits/cake, and hot chocolate.
At least you have your stock still. And I am sure you WILL turn this to your advantage. Could it be used as a sort of 'party' selling? You could ask all your neighbours, everyone you know, and ask them all to bring another friend perhaps?
All the best.It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0 -
That is so pants I have read your previous threads when you have said about working hard for this fair so i know how hard you have been working. don't give in though, it was worth a try and don't not try again, just lookout for another craft fair, this time the worst you could lose would be your pitch money because you already have the crafts. Chin up, they will sell!May 2015 £10 a day currently £2080

AW I do feel for you Scottish as I know how hard you've been working on this I do a lot of craftwork too and its so hit and miss with the craftfairs I found I've always made so much more on ebay.Even with ebay though the hours you spend making something doesn't always get the pricetag you would want..Sometimes it's just down to pure old luck
Good thing is you now have tons of stock for ebay and I'm sure you'll get a better price on there for it.I don't do the fairs anymore as the tables/stalls are getting so expensive it means bigger overheads before you start.Keep at it I'm sure this was just a one off like you say wrong sort of fair best of luck D XX0 -
Don't feel too bad about it.
From your post it is clear you have learned a lot from your experience and you have some stock which you know you can shift using your existing channels.0 -
SS have a big hug from me too :grouphug:
All I can say is don't give up, you know that people like what you sell so I think its just a case of the wrong type of people being there. Was it your first craft fair?
Before I had my disabled son I used to paint items to sell with a relative, they did it full time & for me it was part time, we did craft fairs right up to the size of the NEC in Birmingham & I know just how much hard work goes into it & know how it feels when you have a bad day! We used to have days when people were standing 4 rows deep around the table & days like yours when we were twiddling our thumbs waiting for another customer to appear!
Are wedding favours the main product that you sell? Have you looked into booking a table at a wedding fair? Haven't done any myself so I don't know if it would be viable but maybe an idea if this is the type of items you sell.
You never know if you're going to make a success of something until you try & you should be pleased with yourself for giving it a go
The relative I worked with made a lot of money in the end from the craft fairs, they started out selling the product they painted at their evening class & it grew from there into a full time business, so don't give up hope yet

thats a great idea, and they could bring a bottle, or some nibbles, you'd have a good night in which would cost you nothing and no one ever leaves a selling party without buying something, so you make money don't spend anything have a good time and prob end up with a few left over bottles. Go for it, and if your anywhere near the lake district I'll come and buy some myself!May 2015 £10 a day currently £2080 -
SCott Spendaholic
Sorry to hear of your bad day.Sometimes things just dont work out do they?
Im sure if you do a dedicated craft fair things could be different.
Someone suggested a wedding fair which sounds a really good idea.
Dont let it get you down, you never know til you try.

I am sorry - I know that its gutting when you've worked so hard and nothing really comes of it.
What sort of things do you do - is it just wedding favours or is it something that could be slightly altered so that they could be used at other functions - say balls - if so I could have another outlet for you!
Have that bottle of wine - won't change the results of the day but hopefully it will blot the memory!2014 Target;

Oh poor you honey - what a rubbish day.
Don;t give up. I'm sure your crafts are beautiful and that it was just a bad day for everyone. I think the idea of a craft party is great, don;t let one bad day get you down.
I agree that a nice bath, naughty snack and a bit of TLC is in order, then tomorrow you can think straight again.
