New code :possible NIC and Tax mistake?

I had my first payslip with the new tax code (647L) and, after trying the new tax checker, it shows that I have been paid about £8.40 too much, that is coming from the fact that I have paid less tax than last week and about £1 less NIC.
My collegue has the same tax code and earn the same , but she has been paid about £2 more, which seems to agree with what the tax checker is showing that I should have been paid this week.
If mistake was made, what kind of mistake would that be? Is there any other twist to the 10p tax that I should know and would explain the difference?

The 10p tax band was abolished over a year ago, so its not that. If your employer has been operating some other code number than 647L since the start of this tax year, then you wuld be due a refund. What was your code number before and are you weekly or monthly paid?£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

weekly pay will differ but by the end of each year it will correct itself and you will have the same figures on your P60.
Your NIC is weekly so is unaffected by your tax code, and is calculated weekly.
Is it a budget change? I forget if anything altered.I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing!

There is no 10p tax any longer within the Tax Tables? It only exists for Savings interest.
If you've only got 'your first payslip' ... that suggests monthly pay? But you say
.... which is a bit confusing?that is coming from the fact that I have paid less tax than last week
If you're paid weekly the tax checker is not as reliable as the Tax Tables ... as it seems to round up the allowances too much. More / better data needed????If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
If you and your colleague are now both on the same tax code, what do your payslips show as the "tax paid to date"?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

I am getting paid weekly, and have been for the last 11 years.
My tax code previous to this one was 603L, and previous to that 543L from april 2008 to september 2008.
This week I have paid £10 less income tax (to the penny) and about £1 less NIC.
I can only compare with my friend, why did I pay less tax and she didn't?
My fear is if they do a mistake and come back later and ask for what I owe them, at once.
I suppose it could be some kind of refund and it'll correct itself in time.
Or could it be the accountant mistake?
I will just have to keep an eye on my next payslips and see from there.
I have asked for the 10p tax, as I thought I heard that they decided to keep it, and rise the personal allowance we are allowed to by a bit.
That kind of information just come up from time to time and feels like flashbacks, and at the end you don't know if you really heard it or dreamt it.0 -

It only applies to Savings interest. If you earn more than £8915 per year (£6475 personal allowance + £2440 10% Savings band) .... the 10% rate doesn't exist for you.If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
What a shambles that political mistake on the 10p band is making.
Does one person in 100 understand it?0
