Hi
Might be a stupid question but my washing machine has 3 settings. Cotton, Colours and Synthetic wash.
I usually do towels and bedding on a Cotton 60 degree was and everything else on a 30 coloured wash and have never thought to use the Synthetic wash.
I have a mountain of washing to get through and want to speed things up so was looking at the settings. If I use a Synthetic wash it knocks off 30 minutes.
Is it ok to wash everything on a 30 Synthetic wash do you think?
See, told you silly question!

I don't see why not, I often use the synthetic wash on my machine because it is a shorter cycle. I am sure that it is a more gentle wash than a cotton wash anyway0

Yes, it's fine, the only thing is if you do your tea towels and dishcloths, I prefer a hotter one to kill any germs?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

I wash everything on the Quick Wash at 30, unless there is something really smelly. However, I use the QW with the cotton cycle as it has a longer spin and therefore things get dried more quickly.0

Some synthetics programmes stop just before the end of the cycle to minimise creasing and holds the wash in deep water until you continue the cycle.0

I wash the majority of our clothes on a Synthetic wash, including Cotton's. I only use the Cotton wash for bedding and my Sons School shirts as they get very grubby (boys!:rotfl:)and the Cotton wash brings them up better and whiter.0

I use the lower temp washes for a lot of things but use hotter washes for anything that's particularly dirty or for facecloths, teatowels, underpants etc.0

Sorry for pulling up an old thread but is it ok to wash school polo shirts and socks at 60c?
Reason I ask is I dont really have that many whites and it would save me doing 2 seperate loads if I could wash them at 60c. The labels say 40 on them though, didn't want to ruin the clothes.
Cheers

i wouldnt risk it myself, different for stuff thats easy replaced or just worn regardless of condition
for school stuff i would tread carefully or at least try one polo shirt first0 -
Yeah might try that, was trying to save some money and time, the white wash without school clothes has about 5 items in it lol. Saving up more items to put in the white wash could take weeks haha

Do you need to do the whites at 60 degrees anyway?0
