I guess it's like Argos and other retailers. They keep reducing the prices until they all go. Sometimes on unsexy items they do have stock - the PS1 with Spyro game for under a tenner springs to mind.
Most other times all the stores will have sold out ages ago, but there might be a couple of stores in the country with a dusty box, ex-display model or customer return sitting in a cupboard waiting for an MSEr to snatch it up. A friendly DSG might even help locate stock for you if asked nicely!

That's one interpretation, the other is that they deliberately cut the price to about half when they don't have any, to raise public interest on sites such as this, then increase the price significantly when it comes back into stockThanks to all who post constructively.
