Thank you :o. The telephone calls and letters don't worry me. What worries me most is finding some great big bloke come to my door and start demanding money. Out of all my debts its the one with Lloyds for £15,000 that is really concerning me.
I'm also waiting on a decision from an interview I attended last week, if that fails I have another 26 applications i've sent, surely I must at least get one of the jobs :rotfl:

  • Hi Charlie,

Good luck with this. It sounds just like what i did about a month or so ago. I didn't contact CCCS as i have attempted to do everything on my own. I owe about £45k on credit cards and it was starting to get out of control. My hours and wages have been reduced at work and i couldn't keep up the minimum payments.

I therefore stopped all the direct debits and wrote to all the CC companies and told them of my position and could we come to an agreement on freezing the interest and paying a small amount each month for say a 6 month period until things get better. I also told them i wanted to keep everything in writing and not to call me.

Then the phone calls started. RMA (debt collection idiots) Lloyds, Halifax, Barclaycard etc, etc. I have ignored them all. I have the phone unplugged at home all the time now and i have changed my mobile number so i get some peace.

Anyway some denied getting the letters but a few said that i needed to fill out a form to say how much i earned and spent every month. Did this and they have all got back to me saying that i need to pay more and that until this is resolved they are going to carry on adding charges on top of the debt.

The conclusion that i have come to is that the banks drag everything out for ages to add more charges on top of what you already can't pay, so they can get more money and then chase you for a payment no matter how small. Therefore i am going to be contacting CCCS in the next few weeks to enquire about doing an IVA as this is the only way out i can see for myself.

Anyway let us know how you get on. Good Luck.

I've had a letter today from Lloyds and i'm a bit confused. I offered them £2 a month until I get my appointment with CCCS in June. The letter they have sent says, Thank you for my payment which they have credited to my account and if I have any problems or queries they are always there. Does this mean they have accepted the £2
Also when sending the £2, does it have to be by postal order or can I go into the bank and pay ?

    Hi Charlie
I think the only people that can send a 'great big bloke' to your door with any power is the courts. Yes, some creditors may threaten it, but I think it rarely happens unless you really far down the line - it costs them too much and they have no powers, so in the rare event that it did happen, you could put on your best country twang and say 'Get orf my laaaaaand!!! :rotfl:
