Hi
Every year, without fail, I used to book up to go away for a week in April/May- just somewhere like the Lake District in a caravan/cottage- total about £400 inc spends cos we dont live too far away from there.
Then I would get back and think about where we could go later in the year- last year was Cornwall for 2 weeks in September!!
I NEVER budgeted for hols- I used to just wait til a couple of months before we decided to go and take the cost of the accomodation out of one months wages and the spends out of the next. I would then "decide" to just not pay the catalogue, CC, Poll Tax til the next month. And so it went on!!!!!
This is one of the main reasons we are in the debt we are in!!!
So this year there will be no holiday until we have paid off the catalogue this month(£144 a month and the last payment due) and then i can put that cash away in a savings account.
We have to go down to Norwich in the summer to my daughters graduation so any money saved will go towards that- whether we go for a couple of nights or a week will depend on what i have in the account!!!
I feel quite proud of myself- I can really see a change now in the way I do things and it is all down to everyone on here.
So glad i found this site

Yep, Ive done the exact same thing!
Although I did have a wobble this morning when I found some excrutiatingly cheap flights to my favourite place ever, although luckily you have to put that 3 digit code into book stuff over the internet these days, and my cards are chopped so I dont know what they are, so couldnt book even if I wanted to!
We are saving our ebay proceeds and quidco proceeds for our hols this year. Not a bad little plan! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
