Arianet laptop: 351 inc VAT

It seems that prices on laptop are gettign lower and lower.
Just saw this offer from Aria, which seems similar to the popular one from Dell.

A decent laptop for slightly more than 350 pounds.

Features

Intel Celeron 2.6 processor
DVDRW optical drive
10/100 LAN
15" active matrix screen
4OGB Hard drive
256Mb memory

Contents
Arianet EI - Int Celeron 2.6 Laptop
Manual
240W Power supply
Power cable
Battery
CD driver

£299.00 exc, £351.33 inc.
Stock code : LPT-EI-MD42413

Full specifications at:
http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=21686&SpecialStatus=1

In comparison with the Dell famous 299/350 recent offers:
- This laptop has a far better processor (good specially for graphical applications)
- This laptop has a 15" screen (for Dell it was an upgrade)
- This laptop does not seem to have built in wireless LAN (which would need to be added separately for example via a USB dongle).
- For the same price the Dell 350 GBP one offered less processing power, but 512 MB of memory

If you can't get the Dell one, or prefer to have a faster processor, this might be a good alternative

:D That's their wording on their site. I did not even notice it.
Assume it means 240 V (i.e. good for UK sockets).
  • Btw, one shouldn't get confused with Intel Celeron 2.6Ghz processor and Dell's Celeron M processor. Celeron (Netburst) and Celeron M (current generation) is a totally different generation of processor. Celeron M is generally cooler and consume less power than old Celeron. Besides that, Celeron M also has Speedstep technology which will help to clock down the processor when idle to save energy. It might clock at 1.5Ghz, it'll most probably perform close to the 2.6Ghz Celeron due to a better CPU architecture. It is just like AMD processors outperform Intel processors even at a much lower speed. ;)

I have checked out the description and no mention of any operating software which they sell seperatly for £59.93 and thats without their delivery charge so doesnt really compare to the Dell offer in terms of value for money.

That probably is if you want Windows OS (does not matter if you install Linux from DVDs as I often do on some cheap machines).
I agree anyway that the Dell looks more attractive (if you can get one)considered the free delivery.
