Are self cert mortgages now extinct.

We have a self cert mortgage, which is coming to the end of the 3 year fixed rate.
The only self cert option we have is putting mortgage up around 12% per month.
Does anyone know is self certs are totally finished or are they still available.

There are some available dependent on LTV, credit, etc.
Surely after three years there shouldn't now be a problem proving your income though?0 -
Controversial "self-certification" mortgages– dubbed "liar loans" – may be banned after the Financial Services Authority revealed today that almost half of all Britain's new home loans at the height of the property boom were being granted without checks on earnings.
