- Asda have mince on special for 50p for 250g you can stretch that with a few frozen veggies and some new potatoes, or make a bolognaise sauce and bulk it out.
- Their frozen smart price sausages are only 99p for 20 and if you slice them up they go a long way.
- They also do frozen chicken portions £1.68 a bag - again if you strip off the meat one bag could do about 4 meals
- A whole chicken is £2.36 in Aldi you could get a roast and a curry then make a soup from what's left.
- Also check out their super 6 they always have some sort of special offer on fruit and veg
- Buy basics ranges, such as pasta sauce, curry sauce, tinned fruits, cereals etc
- Milk is £1 for 2L in farmfoods and you can get 9 toilet rolls in there for £2
- Iceland have a lot of good offers on at the moment
- Poundland have sugar £1 for 1½ kgs which is a real bargain.
- Bake biscuits and cakes rather than buy them.
and check out as many threads as you can there are loads ther is a really good one on meals for under £1.
But most important is Meal plan, make a list and stick to it
Thats all I can think of for now HTH and Good LuckBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I'm sorry, but would someone really buy 20 sausages for a £1  God knows what's in them........
Hi Jenny,
I've never tried frozen sausages so I have no idea what's in them...but needs must. If someone is trying to feed a family on a very tight budget they may not always be able to pick and choose the healthier option. If I was in that position I'd rather my family had full tummies than go hungry because I choose to take the moral high ground.

I so agree with you Pink -winged .
If you have got nothing and have to feed your kids, you take the cheapest option available I like many others have been in this position and basic brands have been the mainstay of many a meal.
Smart Price sausages are preferred in my house to Walls so

i totally agree i have been in that situation so many times but i would rather my dd was fed a nice hot filling meal than fresh air.ok so they aren't the best but in a bbq sauce or toad in the hole with veg and gravy they make a great meal and dont put an even bigger hole in my purse...0 -
