in Cutting tax
I have just recieved a P60U in the post, what is it?
I have been claiming Job seekers allowance aince 15 Jan. Previuosly in the 08/09 year I have had two different employers, these two jobs covered about 6 months, and i have been unemployed the other 6 months.
The figures on my P45's show that I have earnt approx £20K in those six months. Any have paid approx £4K in tax, surely these figures dont add up.
This the reason I have waited patiently for my P60, only to get a P60U with only 1 figure on it "benifit from current claim" with I presume is the JSA that I have been paid.
Any ideas if I should recieve Tax Refund. By my reckoning (with very basic Tax knowledge) I should have paid 20% on approx £15K. Am I right in thinking this?
Thanks

A p60U is a P60 issued by the Job Centre. The JC has obviously not taken your P45 figures into account and therefore couldnt make your refund.
You need to send the P60U to your tax office with a letter setting out all your employments for the year and dates and periods of claim and ask them to deal with the refund.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0
