OK... if it takes £19 per week to clear your debt in debt in 19 years...
.... increase it by £9 per week by cancelling sky subscription, but keeping set-top box & dish. THis will give you ability to view lots of channels which are "free to view".
.... are you getting the best price for your fuel? Try this link for some ideas on getting better value for money (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1136559784,69078,)
.... packed lunched - must be considered for both your husband & kids. Its got to be done if it frees up money to be thrown at your debt.
Even if these 3 simple things save you 12 pounds per week, then that gives you £31 to pay off your debts, and means you will be debt free by 2017. Now... look at the advice regarding buying food more economically etc etc. THat will give you more money to throw at your debts
YOur husband works 45 miles away .. think of this - how old & reliable is your car? If ythe car was not to work ever again, how would you pay for a replacement? Ifthe car allowance is included in his wages, then that must be split our from the wages and not seen as true income but money that is there to make sure your husband gets to work and earns his tru wage. I'm sure you have talked about this, but is there no where closer to home he could work
Good luck!0 -
There are five of us and I allow £250 p.m on food. We eat well. The key I think is to make things from scratch. I use sachets of mixes, but no jars of food. I also swear by my slow cooker, I make huge stews and casseroles (you can also puree these for baby food and freeze in clingfilm parcels which saves shed loads on baby food).
Using energy saving lightbulbs and not leaving things on standby also helps. You really need advice re stopping interest tho. That should be your first port of call on Monday.
Don't worry - you are not alone any more, we will try and help you all we can."I will be debtfree":p0 -

Hi earwig!
Who is your debt manager?
I'm assuming you are in a DMP with a debt management company.
If you are with one that charges you money you are getting stung I'm afraid. Let us know who it is as soon as possible and we can advise from there!

Sorry earwig, just out of interest who were you with regarding your DMP?
I imagine that with The CCCS your debt free date will probably half! :j
OK now have you ever used ebay? Selling all your old stuff is a great way of making a couple of hundred quid. People will buy anything!
You really need to get your debts below the limits or the charges are going to cripple you. I'm assuming you would for example, pay off £100 then when that had cleared, go and use that card and spend £100 again?
Been there, got the t-shirt!
Start a spending diary aswell. Everyday write down every single penny you spend and on what! Try and break down the items you spend it on for example don't just put £12 = local shop, put £6 = magazines, £4 sweets for kids. This way you will see where you waste so much money! Was a great eye opener for me!
